I guess I should do some kind of introduction as to who I am and what I would like to do with this space.
My name is Olivia and I’m a 20 year old sociology student with an interest in ethical living. There is no shortage of influencers talking about how to live ethical lifestyle’s these days on instagram and youtube which is fantastic, however I tend to think that many of them set a level of perfectionism that is just too high.
For that reason I wanted to start this blog so I could try and give some tips and advice, and just my general thoughts on how to live ethically and the challenges it brings up. Also to share my journey in moving towards living the most ethical lifestyle I can, because in a lot of ways, I’m just a beginner.
I’m currently on a placement year at university, so I’m working 40 hours a week (+ 4 hours commuting each day!) for free. So I currently have very little time and very little money, making living ethically considerably harder. So I’m excited to share my experience with that here.
So in regards to actual topics I’d like to talk about and where I’m at with them currently –
Ethical Fashion – Something I’ve been interested in for a couple of years now and have made steady progress on. Although I find it can be a real challenge sometimes.
Veganism – I have been vegan for nearly 3 years now, out of all the different elements of me attempting to live ethically, this is definitely the easiest one. I basically don’t even know how to not be vegan anymore.
Zero Waste – Something I’m relatively new too, I’ve made a few steps. I always bring reusable bags when I go shopping and I recently purchased metal straws, however I’ve got a long way to go with this one.
There may be other things that come up in the future in regards to ethical living that I wish to explore, but for now these are the three main things.
I hope to write posts on each of these three topics as to why I think they’re important and why I do them/am moving towards them.
As for the name ‘The Easy Ethical’ I liked the way it sounds (!) and I just wanted to make living ethically seem more easy for everyone, not make it so much about perfection, if you know what I mean?
So that’s it for now.
I look forward to getting into the real content.
